Job Title: Task Lead - AI & Cybersecurity (Hybrid)

Location: Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Dayton, OH (Hybrid)

Clearance Requirement: Must be eligible for a Secret security clearance

Employment Type: Full-time


Ellumen is seeking a highly qualified Task Lead to provide subject matter expertise and leadership in support of advanced AI, cybersecurity, software engineering, and system integration efforts. This hybrid role, located near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in Dayton, OH, requires an experienced professional who can lead multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic Department of Defense (DoD) environment. The ideal candidate will drive innovation through agile methodologies, adversarial AI insights, secure development practices, and systems sustainment.

Key Responsibilities:

Agile Development & Program Leadership

  • Guide cross-functional teams using Agile principles to ensure iterative development, continuous improvement, and early delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with customers, end users, and developers to evolve requirements and deliver adaptable, mission-driven solutions.


Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

  • Lead efforts in AI model development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Apply AI/ML techniques such as NLP, computer vision, and applied data science to real-world DoD use cases.
  • Manage the MLOps lifecycle, including CI/CD pipelines for AI model operations and performance optimization.


Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Provide cybersecurity and risk management expertise across AI development, systems architecture, and operational networks.
  • Support efforts to obtain an Authority to Operate (ATO) in relevant environments, ensuring systems meet strict security standards.
  • Oversee defensive cyber operations infrastructure and help ensure information assurance through cyber analytics.


AI DEV-SEC-OPS & Security Engineering

  • Integrate secure development operations into the AI pipeline, with automated security tests built into the development lifecycle.
  • Deliver secure system architecture solutions, supporting lifecycle protection, vulnerability mitigation, and compliance with DoD security requirements.


Systems Integration & Sustainment

  • Provide engineering expertise to integrate and combine components into Systems of Systems (SoS) and ensure interoperability.
  • Oversee system maintenance and sustainment through corrective, adaptive, and preventive approaches.


Testing & Evaluation

  • Develop and execute testing strategies to validate software and system performance under operational conditions.
  • Support both Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) and Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) activities to reduce acquisition risks.


Adversarial AI & Operational Impact

  • Advise on adversarial threats to AI models, including model robustness and testing data sensitivity.
  • Communicate potential operational implications and provide recommendations on model selection and testing protocols.



Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML
  • Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Experience with MLOps, including model CI/CD and lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or DoD-specific environments)
  • Strong foundation in cybersecurity practices and risk management
  • Ability to work within classified or sensitive environments
  • Understanding of DoD acquisition or R&D lifecycle (preferred)



Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with containerization and virtualization technologies
  • Familiarity with Agile tools and project management methodologies
  • Knowledge of defensive cyber operations and systems engineering best practices



Work Environment:

  • Hybrid work schedule with part-time onsite presence at WPAFB required
  • Collaborative and mission-driven environment supporting national defense priorities
