Job Summary
Assists in bidding, budgets, monthly forecasts, financial cost review, schedules, contracts, and change orders: analyzes job costs and assists in the supervision of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a related field and a strong desire to learn about heavy highway construction. In this role, the candidate will be expected to work in both the office and field assisting operations staff with the coordination of all stages of the construction process, under pressure of deadlines in a dynamic and changing environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Promote safety of operations in assigned area; remain actively involved in continuously improving safety processes
- Read and understand plans and specifications. Perform quantity takeoffs.
- Perform solicitations to Vendors and Subcontractors. Work on project sites to observe progression.
- Able to generate change orders for the project using estimating software. Transfer of information from estimating software to job cost software.
- Communicate roll out of projects with Project Manager, Superintendent and field personnel.
- Perform submittals to agencies as required for construction of project.
- Review and analyze job cost information - verify accurate and complete, address and/or correct as necessary.
- Communicate with Project Manager and Superintendent on a regular basis to ensure project issues and concerns are addressed. Generate billing quantities from information provided by field personnel and contractual requirements.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends if required.
- Assist with daily job costing as well as inventory and Key Performance Indicator tracking
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
Education
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or mechanical engineering required
- Valid driver's license and clean driving history required

- Computer skills using a range of programs and applications, including MS Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams), database/spreadsheet programs, and mobile apps
Physical Requirements
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
- Regularly required to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information (This position frequently communicates with others regarding safety issues/training or must be able to discern equipment location for safety)
- Regularly required to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess (must be able to detect moving equipment or must be able to safely inspect work at heights above 10 feet)
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Frequently required to Stand/work on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
- Frequently work near heavy equipment and machinery, exposure to loud noise
- Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all-weather conditions
