The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Client Accounting Coordinator to join our Firm. This position will be based in our Washington D.C. office (hybrid). The Senior Client Accounting Coordinator provides client accounting analysis and billing support to partners by preparing client bills and following up on all assigned matters of billing and collection.
- Prepares accurate and timely complex client bills including preparation of narrative descriptions, write offs, transfers, and on account applications.
- Reviews information for client/matters which partners are responsible for billing and collecting (e.g. unbilled, unpaid bills, unapplied credits) and takes action as appropriate, or records data as needed.
- Ensures timely follow up of all attorney requests by documenting such requests and seeking direction, as needed.
- Prepares related internal request forms including account receivable write-offs, transfers to non-billable, etc.).
- Monitors billing system to confirm the status of pending billing matters (e.g. write offs, transfers to non-billable and specialty rates) and updates logs as appropriate.
- Promptly responds to all inquiries for information made by attorneys, legal assistants, and staff.
- Maintains complete and up-to-date billing files which must include all supportive documentation for each partner and/or client.
- Maintains an up-to-date set of billing instructions for assigned partners.
- Communicates situations as they evolve that may require Supervisor follow-up as well as suggesting possible solutions.
- Assists department staff with questions concerning preparation of bills, charts, reports.
- Assists with department quality control by proofing the work of department staff and outlining new work processes to facilitate efficiency and accuracy of work.
- Completes billing and client analysis projects, as assigned (e.g., charts, reports, etc.)
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
- Manages Firm resources responsibly.
- Complies with and understands Firm operations, policies, and procedures.
- Performs frequent physical exertion including: sitting, repetitive use of both hands, lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of relevant firm computer software (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel), with the ability to learn new software (e.g., firm's accounting software) and operating systems.
- Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrates close attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team.
- Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of five years directly related experience including three years in a law firm or professional services environment.

Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law. Salary Details $90,000 - $100,000
