Position Summary:
Electricians at Coperion Food Equipment (Shaffer/Peerless) in Sidney, OH, are essential to maintaining and installing the electrical systems that power our high-performance industrial food processing machinery. This position involves working with complex wiring, control panels, and electrical components to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical skills, the ability to read detailed diagrams, and a dedicated focus on safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Shift:3rd Shift, Monday through Friday - 11:00 pm to 7:00 am
Overtime:When production demands require, work hours may extend from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am, including Saturdays

Shift Pay Differential: 8%

Work You'll Do:

  • Connect and disconnect electrical powered machinery.
  • Plan, install, and modify electrical systems to optimize material use, facilitate future maintenance, and ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Diagnose electrical issues quickly and accurately, troubleshooting circuits and systems as needed.
  • Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit and wiring.
  • Read and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical instructions to guide installation and repairs.
  • Install control devices such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels, ensuring proper operation and safety.
  • Connect power cables, install grounding leads, and test circuits with diagnostic instruments to verify safety and compatibility.
  • Repair faulty electrical systems or components promptly, maintaining high standards for quality and safety.
  • Work independently, providing guidance and support to less experienced electricians when appropriate.
  • Prioritize safety by actively participating in safety meetings, following protocols, and maintaining an organized work environment.
  • Apply practical judgment to follow detailed instructions and resolve routine electrical problems efficiently.

Team:

  • This role supports the Electrician, working alongside skilled assemblers to ensure the seamless assembly of equipment. Shaffer and Peerless Food Manufacturing are under the Coperion Food Equipment umbrella, and this position supports the collective efforts of these divisions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of formal electrical training (e.g., Associate's degree, technical school) plus at least two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background working with AC/DC low and high voltage circuits.
  • Experience with PLC wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of all units of measure.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, and stand for up to 4 hours.
  • Capable of working in a non-air-conditioned environment with exposure to loud noise, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Must pass a background check, drug test, and provide proof of legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating overhead cranes or forklift trucks (training available).
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems and schematics.
