Allied Health professionals (distinct from medicine, pharmacy and nursing) deliver health or related services using scientific principles and evidence-based practice for the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic diseases; promote disease prevention and wellness for optimum health; and apply administration and management skills to support health care systems in a variety of settings. This job function includes the allied areas of dentistry, neurodiagnostic, polysomnography, ophthalmology, optometry, perfusion, and respiratory. Dental Assistants provide patient comfort and demonstrate good oral hygiene techniques. Dental Assistants may also be responsible for: Sterilizing dental instruments; providing chair-side dental assisting services; taking radiographs; assisting with laser-based treatments; preparing trays; pre-authorization, ABN and scheduling; maintaining quality outcome indicators; taking patient blood pressure and pulse; providing patients with follow-up instructions for surgery or other oral procedures and infection control; recovering patients from anesthesia and remove sutures. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be preferred. Radiographer license from the Ohio State Dental Board. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred. |
