The Pretrial Supervisor oversees and monitors the technical requirements associated with day-to-day administration and operation of their assigned pretrial unit. Areas of oversight within Pretrial may include Risk Assessment and/or Case Management Unit.

Duties
-
Supervisor:
- Manages staff workloads, schedules, and time off requests.
- Defines job roles and responsibilities, sets work expectations, including daily work activities and ensures accountability.
- Issues formal performance evaluations, provides constructive feedback and affirms employee's strengths; provides guidance and administers crucial conversations and corrective actions (with approval from HR and Legal) and ensures employee relations issues are handled legally and within guidelines/policy.
- Advertises, interviews and hires staff; develops training plans, coaches and mentors a high performing team; and supports skills, personal and career development within the team.
- Collaborates with peers to ensure assessment reports are completed and appropriate workflows are efficient amongst pretrial units.
- Serves as initial point of contact for pretrial questions, concerns, issues and resolutions, escalating to Program Administrator when appropriate.
Functional:
- Performs Pretrial Officer duties to include supervising a caseload, completing risk assessments, completing GPS installations, and participating in the GPS on-call rotation.
Specific duties associated with Risk Assessment/Intake Unit:
- Schedules court rotations for Pretrial Officers and participates as needed.
- Assigns risk assessment reports to Pretrial Officers, ensures accuracy in scoring and on-time completion delivery to courts.
Specific duties associated with Case Management Units Duties:
- Ensures relatively equal distribution of caseload assignments.
- Reviews and approves applications to revoke bond.
- Assigns Pretrial Officers with tasks to ensure case management requirements are met.
- Ensures Pretrial Officers are scheduled in a manner that provides adequate office coverage.

- Initiative: Must accurately identify internal and external customer needs and be proactive in adjusting processes to ensure program outcome goals are met. Must be able to make sound decisions and work with minimal oversite.
- Technical Skills: Must have intermediate computer skills. Must have the ability to facilitate unit meetings. Must have adequate knowledge of the various computer software systems and monitoring equipment utilized by Judicial Services.
- Public Relations/Customer Services: Must be able to establish and maintain positive relations with various criminal justice agencies serviced by the pretrial program.
- Supervisory Effectiveness: Must be able to train co-workers, provide guidance and direction to others. Must be able to provide objective and appropriate feedback to co-workers. Must be familiar with County personnel policies and effective documentation practices.
- Planning and Organizing: Must have adequate calendaring, time management and prioritization skills to be able to guide co-workers.
- Communication: Must be able to adequately address issues and problems through effective oral and written communication.
- Judgement/Decision Making: Must be able to make sound, independent, reasonable decisions consistent with laws, regulations and policies.
- Teamwork/Cooperation: Must be able to facilitate teamwork among co-workers, peers, and management and foster a positive work environment.

Requirements

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, public administration, or related field.
- 3+ years' experience working in criminal justice environment
- 2+ year experience as a Pretrial Officer
- Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Previous Lead or Supervisory experience
- Experience completing risk assessments/criminal history reports for the purpose of setting bonds.
- Experience working with NCIC.

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully pass pre-employment testing with includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) check and background check.
Post-Employment Requirements:
- Possession of a valid Class "R" Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed primarily in a standard office.
- Travel to the satellite offices, community corrections programs, or other specified location may be required as business needs dictate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- In the office spends 90% of each day sitting and another 10% either upright or standing.
- Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs.
- Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office or work duties.
- Oral and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as the telephone and computer email system.
- Constant use of hand, finger, and eye coordination enabling operation of office and field equipment.
- Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work-related equipment.
Definitions:
Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.
Frequently: Activity exists between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
