Position Summary
The University of St. Francis Department of Psychology invites applications for the position of Teaching Instructor in the Recovery Support Specialist area. This full-time faculty member will coordinate the Certified Recovery Support Specialist ( CRSS) certificate program and teach CRSS-261: "Introduction to Recovery Support Services" and CRSS 262: "Applied Recovery Support Services." This position will begin July 2025.

The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: overseeing the CRSS Program; teaching assigned courses; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with curriculum development and review; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.

Teaching assignment may include day or evening classes. This position is grant-funded and contingent on continuing grant funding. The University of St. Francis is a welcoming community of learners committed to enhancing diversity and equity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Meet weekly with Success Coach and Internship Coordinator.
  • Teach the didactic courses.
  • Complete quarterly and annual grant reports; complete data reports.
  • Attend DMH meetings; respond to all DMH questions and concerns.
  • Assure all grant requirements are being met in the ICB CRSS model;
  • Attend conferences and continue professional development as required.
  • Meet with Advisory Board twice each semester.
  • Recruit, interview and enroll new students.
  • Order supplies for CRSS program and new students.
  • Organize completion ceremony.
  • Work with USF on grant renewal; report to Dept. Chair and Dean.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in behavior health field and ICB credential
  • experience in behavioral health, recovery support, substance use disorders, mental health and/or co-occurring disorders
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, solve problems and motivate team members
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position
  • Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university

Preferred Requirements

  • 3 + years experience in behavioral health, recovery support, substance use disorders, mental health and/or co-occurring disorders
  • Prior experience teaching in higher education setting
  • Prior grant implementation experience

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule

  • Monday through Friday evening and/or Saturday during scheduled class hours and working other times as needed to supervise internships.
  • This position is full-time, grant funded.

Physical Requirements of Position
Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
Substantial time is spent working in a classroom. This position also requires visiting internship sites as needed for supervision of interns. This position requires the following physical activities: driving, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
