Job Summary

VSolvit is seeking a Sr. Cloudera Developer to support enterprise-scale data platforms leveraging the Cloudera Hadoop ecosystem (CDH/CDP). This position is ideal for a highly motivated developer with hands-on experience in building scalable data processing solutions for government or regulated environments.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in data engineering, Cloudera toolsets, and secure data pipeline development in compliance with DoD cybersecurity and STIG standards, while working within Agile or SAFe delivery teams.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), and staying focused on the assigned tasks including company meetings, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines within the Cloudera Hadoop ecosystem (CDH/CDP), utilizing tools such as HDFS, Hive, Impala, Spark, and HBase.
  • Integrate structured and unstructured data sources into secure, high-performing Cloudera-based data lakes and analytics platforms
  • Implement and manage Cloudera security frameworks, including Apache Ranger, Kerberos, and data masking policies
  • Support STIG compliance efforts and apply DoD security standards throughout the Cloudera environment
  • Develop and optimize distributed data applications using Python, Java, or Scala
  • Leverage NiFi, Sqoop, or Kafka for real-time and batch data ingestion
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile or SAFe environments to deliver secure, performant data solutions
  • Participate in design and code reviews and support architecture decisions with a focus on scalability, security, and compliance

Basic Qualifications

  • CompTIA Security+ (CE) certification (required)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working within the Cloudera Hadoop ecosystem (CDH/CDP)
  • Strong experience with:
    1. ETL/ELT pipeline development for large-scale data environments
    2. Tools including HDFS, Hive, Impala, Spark, and HBase
    3. Securing Cloudera environments using Ranger, Kerberos, and data masking
  • Experience developing in Python, Java, or Scala in a distributed computing environment
  • Familiarity with data ingestion tools such as NiFi, Sqoop, or Kafka
  • Understanding of STIGs and DoD cybersecurity requirements
  • Proven ability to work in Agile or SAFe teams
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal government or DoD data platforms
  • Familiarity with Cloudera Manager and cluster tuning best practices
  • Experience working in containerized or hybrid cloud environments
