Job Description

The Department of Military Science is seeking a highly organized and proactive Office Support Assistant IV to support its team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of the department, with a focus on administrative coordination, event planning, student support, and community engagement. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Department Chair and faculty, including calendar management, meeting coordination, procurement, and onboarding.
  • Plan and execute departmental events, managing logistics such as space reservations, catering, communications, and guest coordination.
  • Maintain relationships and communications with alumni, donors, and university partners to support events, scholarships, and departmental initiatives.
  • Manage departmental budget functions, including One Card reconciliation and coordination with internal and external partners for purchases.
  • Oversee academic administrative tasks, including course scheduling, student records, enrollment coordination, and milestone tracking in myZou.
  • Maintain and update departmental website, mailing lists, and internal documentation.
  • Collaborate regularly with ROTC partners, university departments, and support staff to ensure smooth operations and student success.

Shift

Generally, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with occasional flexibility for events.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a university or military-affiliated environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience planning and coordinating events.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiarity with university systems.
  • Experience managing or reconciling budgets, purchase cards, or financial transactions.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $17.00 - $18.50 hourly

Grade: GGS - 006

Other Information

This an in-person position located on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. Candidates must be residents of the state of Missouri or willing to relocate prior to the hire date.
