Get to Know Your Team:

  • UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with public relations and marketing aspects of the sports medicine program by acting as a liaison between physicians, medical office personnel, various hospital departments, school administrators, coaches, Athletic Trainers, parents, and athletes
  • Schedule and assist with outreach sports medicine coverage including, but not limited to, school visits, game coverage, and special event coverage.
  • Be point person for referral communications, local sport teams, high school/college athletic departments, etc.
  • Fluent in clinic's EMR system to assist with scheduling physician appointments and diagnostic imaging
  • Prevent, evaluate, and treat athletic injuries using appropriate medical protocols.
  • Perform athletic injury assessment and referral to appropriate healthcare provider.
  • Perform treatment, rehabilitation, and documentation using evidence-based protocols.
  • Participates in development and implementation of Sports Medicine programs.
  • Provides patient care in orthopedic clinics working under physician supervision.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Trainer or other health related field
  • Texas Athletic Trainer Licensure
  • 5+ years' experience as an Athletic Trainer

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree
  • NATABOC Certification
