Director, Talent Acquisition
The Director, Talent Acquisition provides strategic leadership, planning, and execution for enterprise-wide talent acquisition initiatives. Serving as a key partner to executive and operational leadership, this role oversees recruitment strategies across Corporate and field-based operations, shaping the company's workforce strategy to attract and retain top talent in diverse roles - including CDL drivers, plant and field technicians, engineers, and environmental professionals.

This position leads the Talent Acquisition function, optimizing systems, operations, team performance, and employer brand to drive business growth, operational excellence, and long-term workforce sustainability.

Essential Functions & Requirements:



  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Develops and executes comprehensive, enterprise-wide recruitment strategies that address both Corporate and field hiring needs
  • Collaborates with executive and operational leaders to anticipate workforce demands, ensuring hiring practices align with business objectives
  • Partners with field operations teams to forecast labor needs, address regional talent shortages, and build sustainable talent pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill roles
  • Leads hiring efforts across diverse functions, including skilled trades, licensed drivers, technical experts, and business support roles
  • Directs the Talent Acquisition team, setting performance goals, managing professional development, and fostering a high-performance culture
  • Oversees and enhances recruiting processes, leveraging data, automation, and best practices to improve efficiency and the candidate experience
  • Optimizes the use of recruitment platforms (e.g., ATS, CRM), ensuring seamless integration with broader HR systems and analytics tools
  • Drives initiatives that elevate the Company's employer brand, reinforcing its mission, values, and commitment to sustainability
  • Builds and maintains relationships with staffing firms, advertising partners, and sourcing platforms, ensuring compliance and return on investment
  • Establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Talent Acquisition function to drive continuous improvement and strategic decision-making
  • Ensures adherence to employment laws, Company policies, and ethical hiring standards, promoting inclusive and equitable recruitment
  • Designs and delivers training programs for hiring managers, equipping them with behavioral-based interviewing techniques that support talent alignment and cultural fit
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field (required)
  • Master's degree or professional certification e.g. SHRM-SCP, SPHR (preferred)


Experience:



  • 8+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing Corporate and field recruitment (required)
  • Demonstrated experience / expertise in workforce planning, recruitment strategy, and talent operations in a complex, multi-site environment (required)
  • Experience hiring for skilled trades, licensed professionals e.g. CDL drivers, engineers and operational staff (required)

  • Time to Fill: Measures the efficiency of the recruitment process from requisition approval to offer acceptance
  • Quality of Hire: Evaluates new hire performance, retention, and hiring manager satisfaction
  • Candidate Experience Satisfaction: Captures feedback from candidates to assess the hiring process employer brand impact
  • Offer Acceptance Rate: Tracks the percentage of offers accepted, indicating competitiveness and candidate engagement
  • Cost to Hire: Analyzes the financial efficiency of the recruitment process, including tools, resources, and vendor partnerships


Competencies:



  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to align talent acquisition strategies with long-term business goals and workforce needs
  • Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams within a talent acquisition function
  • Deep knowledge of recruiting technology platforms, data analytics, and talent market intelligence, sourcing strategies and best practices
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and change management skills; ability to build trust with executive and operational leaders to shape workforce strategies
  • Strong operational and analytical acumen; utilizes data-driven insights to improve processes, measure recruiting performance and optimize technology investment
  • Ability to design and facilitate behavior-based interviewer training
  • Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
