Position Summary

This professional will lead the development and implementation of a Total Rewards strategy that will further support our efforts to attract and retain top talent for Dallas College. The Senior Director of Total Rewards will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer and will be responsible for demonstrating thought leadership on the development of total rewards methodologies and approaches, leading the implementation of new projects and initiatives and directing the service delivery of the compensation and benefits teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.

  • Experience leading or managing major change initiatives.

  • Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges that arise as a result of Dallas College's current transition.

  • Experience in compensation and benefits design, including negotiation and interpretation of pertinent regulations.

  • Demonstrated experience in development of performance management training programs that focus on enabling the workforce to achieve improvements with priority organizational challenges and opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of designing and administering merit-based programs.

  • Manage the maintenance and execution of the performance management system, including current job descriptions, standards of performance and performance evaluation tools.

  • Previous management of staff and employee development experience.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and a track record of success in bringing highly complex, cross- functional projects to completion.

  • Practical, business-oriented approach to problem solving and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balanced by an appreciation for complexity and risk.

  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in working through complex transactions, with the ability to analyze, problem solve, and communicate observations and recommendations.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Administration, or related field.

  • Master's degree is preferred.

  • 7-10 years+ in prior Human Resources experience preferred, including significant experience in the design and implementation of complex compensation and benefits programs.

  • Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and emerging regulatory issues preferred.

  • Ability to design and implement full-cycle performance management programs.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook and experience using Human Resources Information Systems.

  • Attention to detail, ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of employees and managers.

  • Ability to professionally handle confidential material and associated issues.

  • Strong team player and willingness to assist team members as needed.

  • Applicable certifications related to the role is a plus.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is strongly preferred.

  • Current and valid Texas driver's license required for offsite travel.

  • Official transcript will be required.

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, communicate, and administer competitive total rewards strategies, including compensation, benefits, retirement, engagement, and other work experience programs, that are cost effective and consistent with labor market trends and organizational objectives.

  • Ensure that organizational-wide performance management initiatives are focused and aligned on improving operational and program efficiencies and effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations related to compensation and benefits programs.

  • Provide leadership to and direct supervision of total rewards team members through effective coaching and performance management.

  • Resolves disputes and communicates with clients in cases that cannot be routinely handled by members of the total rewards team.

  • Oversee the review, communication, and implementation of the annual benefit programs open enrollment.

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
