Leads the development and execution of holistic, global category management strategies, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, diversity, and risk management initiatives. Develops, executes, and manages global sourcing strategies using the Company's sourcing methodology.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for strategic functions including: evaluation of category/spend information, benchmarking, and making recommendations for sourcing strategy and supplier scorecard criteria.
  • Develop and implement innovative category strategies, ensuring category management is integral to the organization's success.
  • Develops category expertise, category management expertise, and market contacts, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders in all aspects of sourcing.
  • Leads internal projects/programs, incorporating relationship management to significantly enhance business performance.
  • Leads supplier negotiations; provide consulting or training on negotiation strategies to junior team members.
  • Set up, structure, and run complex RFPs with multiple phases.
  • Identify creative and new data sources to understand internal spend and leverage insights to inform overarching category strategy.
  • Act as advisor to junior team members during RFP design for atypical or complex requirements.
  • Understand and address key sustainability challenges and opportunities for category, FedEx, and the wider industry. Align category with FedEx sustainability goals, driving significant contributions.
  • Co-develop total cost of ownership (TCO) with key end users across the organization, incorporating detailed specs into TCO calculation. Leverage TCO models to develop creative sourcing strategies, increasing value across the supply chain.
  • Acts with authority with suppliers, business stakeholders, Finance, and Legal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in science / arts or equivalent in business analysis, strategic management, marketing, or other analytical field; degree in supply chain, logistics, finance, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline preferred.
Minimum Experience
Minimum six (6) years work experience in sourcing, financial analysis, or related field, a related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of project management, current technology tools/advances, and database/analytical tools. Exceptional understanding of global market trends, supplier ecosystems, and industry innovation. Ability to apply financial principles and data to complex business decisions. Expertise in reading, analyzing, and interpreting supplier financial statements. Ability to forecast financial needs using market data, trends, and supplier information. Ability to utilize innovation trends, changes in customer trends, and impacts of technology to inform strategy. Deep understanding of relevant financial metrics, including Return on Assets. Proficiency with cost analysis, Coupa, and Power BI Dashboard highly preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, including high emotional intelligence and conflict resolution. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience and knowledge with Railroads.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the salary information represents the job level minimum and the job level maximum. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $7,488.36/month - $10,444.28/month.

Additional Details: Remote work will be considered based on business need.
