Description

We are seeking a proactive and strategic Environmental Specialist to join our Real Estate Technical Services department. You will participate in the environmental due diligence program for commercial real estate financed by MidFirst Bank, its subsidiaries and affiliates throughout the U.S. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are a must to succeed in this position.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with the department's internal customers and vendors.
  • Investigates properties under consideration for financing and uses independent judgment and discretion to determine the appropriate level of reporting per the requirements of credit policy and department procedures.
  • Utilizes in-place data management system to solicit bids from and subsequently engage environmental consultants, and for management of reports and, reviews and invoices.
  • Reviews environmental assessments and other technical data for properties associated with all commercial loans secured by real estate.
  • Uses independent judgment and discretion to minimize the potential liability to the Bank and its customers regarding environmental risks.
  • Effectively communicates research findings to internal clients and senior management through written reviews and verbal discussions.
  • Maintains and understanding of existing regulations and continually reviews new and proposed regulations as they relate to CERCLA and lender liability protections
  • Provides training to bank officers regarding environmental due diligence requirements


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Up to 1+ year of experience in environmental consulting, government oversight or environmental risk management
  • General knowledge of chemicals of concern including hazardous substances, asbestos, hazardous waste, petroleum products, and other pollutants
  • General familiarity with government regulations and guidelines including CERCLA, RCRA and AAI
  • Experience with performing, writing and/or reviewing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II ESAs, and other Environmental Due Diligence Reports
  • Experience recording/writing detailed reviews of technical data preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, to clearly convey unfamiliar concepts to a wide variety of audiences
  • Effective time management and follow-through, with the ability to simultaneously work on and potentially lead multiple tasks subject to project deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills, including maintaining emails, project histories and other relevant data for current and past projects in a form that is quickly and easily accessible and understandable by you and others
  • Keen attention to detail
