This role will ensure that procurement operations align with business objectives, deliver cost savings, maintain compliance, and foster high-performing supplier relationships that support operational excellence.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications (i.e. CPR): Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and/or Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred.
- Ten years progressive experience in purchasing and inventory control preferred.
- Knowledge of purchasing systems including inventory control procedures, requisitions, bids and proposals..
- Must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in the employee's HR file.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the development and execution of procurement strategies that drive value, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
- Oversee the sourcing process, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and procurement lifecycle for goods and services.
- Establish procurement policies and procedures that support strategic sourcing and ethical practices.
- Build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers and partners.
- Develop vendor performance metrics and regularly evaluate vendors against service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, volume leveraging, and process improvements.
- Assess and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, vendor non-performance, and compliance issues.
- Work closely with Operation Leaders, and other departments to align procurement and vendor strategies with business goals.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for vendor-related issues across the organization.
- Lead and mentor a team of procurement and vendor management professionals.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence within the procurement function.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is required to sit for long periods of time. Manual dexterity and visual acuity are necessary to type using a computer keyboard, visually read information off a computer monitor and paper documents. Requires ability to orally communicate information over the telephone and in person and hear responses. Requires ability to lift/carry up to 10 lbs.

This is a remote position. There will be occasional travel to throughout the Empath Health footprint.
