The Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI), an organized research unit at UCSD, is an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) institution that provides the infrastructure to support high-quality and innovative translational research. ACTRI's vision is to translate scientific discoveries into improved health by delivering education, training and infrastructure for clinical research in the San Diego area and beyond. Mike Hogarth, M.D. and Davey Smith M.D. are the principal investigators on ACTRI's CTSA grant. The ACTRI functions under the direction of Gary S. Firestein, M.D., Director, and Senior Associate Vice Chancellor Health Sciences at UC San Diego. The CCR provides resources to perform human subject research, including a newly renovated clinic located in Linda Vista and an 18,000 sq.ft. research clinic, located in La Jolla. Operational and Clinical resources include coordinators, nurses, project managers, regulatory support, phase I unit, infusion center, pharmacy, DEXA scans, cardiac phenotyping, exercise physiology, and additional clinical services. Expertise and resources to assist with study design and recruitment strategies are available, as well as novel informatics tools to identify and recruit research participants in a confidential and culturally sensitive manner. Vouchers are available for projects, and can provide clinical services without cost to the investigator. Under direction of the ACTRI Clinic Manager, the Hospital Laboratory Technician manages day to day activities of a research laboratory. Performs a wide variety of technical procedures in a laboratory or other facility directly involved in research patient-care activities. Responsible for performing sample request handling, blood sample acquisition, accessioning of blood and tissue sample requests, including frequent handling of blood, urine and CSF samples, assists with preparation of blood and tissue material send-out for testing, packages materials to ship, tracks samples and tissue materials in department and at other UCSD locations, does follow up to locate missing materials, files reports, reports incomplete orders and questions on requests to designated staff, delivers samples to UCSD lab. Performs technical tasks as directed and trained. Responsible for ensuring that; Laboratory Hazard Assessment Tool (LHAT) is kept up to date, Hazard Control Plans (HCPs) are created for high hazard equipment/processes and chemicals used in the laboratory and that non-ACTRI staff using laboratory facilities follow appropriate EH&S policies and procedures. Ensures clinic successfully completes annual EH&S audit. Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $82,894 - $82,894 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $39.70 - $39.70 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). |
