The American Chemical Society (ACS) is the world's largest scientific membership association, with a mission to "advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of Earth and its people".

ACS Publications is a Division of the ACS and has all the characteristics of a medium-large scientific and technical publishing organization. It is one of two Divisions charged with serving the dual function of generating a reliable annual surplus to support the Society's programmatic activities, while also fulfilling a core goal of the Society in advancing knowledge in the field of chemistry and the chemical enterprise. The Division publishes 80+ high-quality peer-reviewed journals covering the breadth of chemistry and allied fields, as well as numerous other high-quality products and services of benefit to the global community.

The Partner Outreach Manager will play a key role in driving the expansion of the ACS Publications Partner Publishing Program by identifying, researching, and qualifying potential partners. This position will focus on booking and leading initial meetings to assess fit and build strong relationships. The manager will also collaborate closely with the marketing team to amplify outreach efforts, ensuring greater visibility and engagement with potential partners.

In this role, you will be instrumental in building momentum to accelerate the growth of the program, ensuring it reaches its full potential and makes a meaningful contribution to our goals. You will proactively work to expand our network of partners, leveraging both outreach and strategic collaboration to strengthen our overall impact.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Identify and research potential partners to align with the goals of the Partner Publishing Program.
  • Qualify and prioritize prospects.
  • Schedule, manage, and conduct initial outreach meetings to engage with prospects and introduce them to the program.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of partner outreach efforts.
  • Track and report on outreach activities, meetings, and outcomes to continuously refine strategies and improve success rates.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide support and input on proposal and P&Ls as required.



This position is based in the Washington, DC offices of the American Chemical Society. Some travel will be required. ACS Publications employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite Tuesday and Wednesday. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.

A reasonable rate of compensation for this position is:



  • Washington, DC office: between $82,000 - $111,000 per year.


ACS currently provides the following benefits for this position: paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, paid holidays, health insurance, flexible spending account or health care savings account, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, retirement benefits, short- and long-term disability, and 4-week work from anywhere; each benefit is subject to the terms of the applicable program. Additional benefits may apply based on skills, experience, and location.

Any actual offer of employment, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be made in the sole discretion of ACS. ACS reserves the right to amend or modify its employment benefits and compensation structure at any time.

Experience
