Basic Function |
The Senior Associate Director supports both the Center for Global Programs and the Knowlton Center for Career Exploration and serves as the lead of the International Student Support team in the Center for Global Programs. The role is responsible for managing communication among relevant stakeholders on pertinent topics germane to U.S. regulations and compliance by remaining up to date with literature, governmental policies, and international developments.
As the Primary Designated School Official (
PDSO) for F-1 students, the position is responsible for researching, monitoring, and reporting information to ensure compliance with federal immigration regulations, managing the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (
SEVIS), supporting Denison's federally mandated reporting to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (
DHS), and advising the international student population.
Working in tandem with both Centers, the position is expected to explore and expand new and innovative opportunities with partner organizations, as well as support domestic and international students seeking to complete an internship during their off-campus study semester or during other times of the year.
The role is expected to work on development of potential courses to be taught through either Center while serving as the Global Programs liaison to various offices across campus and as the designee of the Director on key meetings related to international students. |
Essential Job Functions |
- Supervise the International Student Support team in the Center for Global Programs; inform relevant stakeholders on pertinent topics germane to U.S. regulations and compliance by remaining up to date with literature, governmental policies, and international developments
- Serve as official liaison to ITS for technology initiatives; Admissions liaison for international student recruitment and visa processing for matriculated and pre-matriculated students; Housing for international student support; AFE for matters related to connecting with families at key moments during the academic year
- Design and build initiatives related to Global Programs and the Knowlton Center in areas of ed/tech companies for study away, mini internships, research and internships; serve as the main point of contact and advisor for all Denison students who wish to complete an internship experience during their off-campus study semester or over the summer
- Serve as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for F-1 students to ensure compliance with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS); coordinate ongoing communication with students about their legal rights and responsibilities in order to remain in lawful F-1 student status; process student requests such as I-20 applications, I-20 reprints, travel signatures, SEVP recertification, SEVIS transfers, work authorizations such as Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and STEM OPT extensions; collect and analyze data for annual Open Doors survey
- Develop new career and study away course that supports student engagement and personal learning; work in coordination with the Associate Provost and VP/Chief of Staff
- Serve as lead on technology-related matters, specifically the maintenance and upkeep of a new software solution
- Serve as designee of the Director on key meetings related to international students
- Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications |
Masters Degree
The AD is expected to be highly skilled in research and writing; be communicative and work collaboratively with the Center for Global Programs (CfGP) and the Knowlton Center. The role requires availability for communication and coordination with other campus offices in crisis situations after normal business hours and on weekends if necessary. |
