Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists the Department Director and OR Supervisor in all daily departmental operations. Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Assist in providing quality care to the surgical patient by ensuring operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Performs scrub duties and assists in maintenance of instruments, equipment and supplies. Able to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and places service calls when needed. Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Assists with maintaining adequate PAR levels on supplies including ordering, inventory, and value analysis process. Assists manager with supervision and education for surgical technicians. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or nursing departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills. Routinely works weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification

2. Minimum 3-5 years OR experience.

3. Must demonstrate organization skills.

4. Willingness to be cross trained in other areas.

5. Serves as a mentor/preceptor to other surgical technicians.

6. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. High School diploma, GED or Higher Education required.

2. Must have a certificate of completion from a Surgical Technologist program or a military training program and maintain.

3. Must have and maintain current BLS certification, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider's Program.
