Fabrication Technician 2

Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Provides fabrication support for new engineered equipment fabrication, maintenance/repair of operating engineered equipment and maintenance/repair of contaminated operating engineered equipment.
  • Provides mechanical fabrication support including layout, fit up and welding on new engineered equipment fabrication.
  • Performs required maintenance procedures on operating engineered equipment returned for routine maintenance.
  • Performs troubleshooting and repairs to operating engineered equipment returned for repair work.
  • Performs routine testing such as hydrostatic testing of hoses and spools in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Prepares and packages equipment for shipment to customer.
  • Performs assignments independently with the exception of unusual or complex processes, which are referred to a supervisor.
  • Can weld in multiple positions on multiple procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements/Skills

  • Strong MIG and TIG welding skills
  • Ability to read and understand equipment design drawings and equipment specifications
  • Effective hand and power tool skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong communication skills

Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to wear respiratory protection and work in temperature extremes
  • Ability to stand and walk
  • Ability to effectively communicate; speaking, reading, understanding, writing and hearing clear English; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Ability to wear a respirator and work around respirable dust
  • Ability to work in or around moving vehicles
  • Basic math skills; mechanical ability
  • Ability to wear protective equipment such as: goggles, ear plugs, hard hat, gloves, and steel toe boots
  • Ability to work around fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to perceive depth and adjust focus; basic hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to see close and distance, basic colors/shades, and peripheral vision
  • Forklift certified


Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
Education

  • High School diploma or GED

Certifications

  • General Employee Training (GET)
  • RAD certified
  • Forklift certified
  • Certified welder preferred

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience

  • None
