Insurance Verification Specialist

Friends Hospital is the nation's oldest private psychiatric hospital, located on a beautiful 100-acre campus in Philadelphia, PA. Friends Hospital offers a continuum of care including level of care assessments; specially designed inpatient units for adolescents, adults, and older adults; and a private residential rehabilitation program. Friends Hospital is easily accessed via public transportation and has free, safe, on-site parking.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for verifying all benefits using the applicable portals and contacting the insurance companies. Verification of benefits include confirming benefits, eligibility, policy details and the process required to obtain authorization. Scanning eligibility verification information into the EMR. Ensuring that the patient's demographic information is correct. Updating insurance and demographic information as needed in the EMR. Collaborating with Admissions, Business Office and Utilization Management to ensure that the most accurate information is listed in the EMR. This position may also assist with patient registration and resolving any verification discrepancies.

This position would sit at Friends Hospital and would be onsite, Monday - Friday, day shift.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Microsoft Office
• Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Experience navigating the internet
• Knowledge of scanning and retrieving electronic images
• Use of personal computer and copier
• Good organizational skills
• Maintains confidentiality
• Demonstrates consistent ability to problem-solve & communicate clearly, both verbally & in writing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• One to three years of insurance verification experience and registration in a physician or hospital setting
