SUMMARY US Army Criminal Investigation Division (HQDA USACID) Senior Managed Systems Engineer supporting the US Army Criminal Investigation Division (USACID) Criminal Investigative Management System (CIMS) JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for performing duties like site surveys, architecture design, system evaluation, analysis, and infrastructure assessment. Perform duties that require expertise in system/processor architecture, operating systems, software applications, network protocols, routers, switches, remote access servers, and firewalls. * Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software. Implements operating systems enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system. * Develops and documents system administration standard operating procedures, complies with the governments systems administration standards operating procedures. Manages system/server resources to include performance, capability, availability, serviceability, and recoverability. * Installs, updates, and troubleshoots systems/servers, performs repairs on faulty system/server hardware, and hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. * Maintains baseline system security according to government policies, and designs group policies and access control lists to ensure compatibility with government standards and business rules. * Requires knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles, computer networking concepts, protocols, network security methodologies, risk management framework, and government user security policies. * Posses skills in monitoring, optimizing system/server performance, operating system administration (account maintenance, data backups, system performance, install and configure new hardware/software), operating system hardening techniques, correcting physical and technical problems that impact server performance, and recovering failed systems/servers. * Requires knowledge of virtualization technologies and virtual machine development and maintenance. Ability to effectively collaborate with others. ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills * Systems and network architecture design for distributed and cloud-centric environments * Operational experience in large-scale entreprise network environment with custom applications * Familiarity with government policies, procedures and regulations for federal information systems * Ideally have background or familiarity with law enforcement and/or criminal databases and information systems * Familiarity with C# and .NET, SQL Server a plus WORKING CONDITIONS Environmental Conditions * Office Strength Demands * Sedentary - 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required.
