Interpreter- Dari/Pashto

Local Residency Required - Kansas City or St. Louis Only
To be eligible for this role, you must currently live in the Kansas City, MO or St. Louis, MO metropolitan areas. Applicants living outside these areas will not be considered. This position also requires fluency in Dari and Pashto. Please apply only if you meet both the language and local residency requirements.

We are seeking a skilled Interpreter fluent in English, Dari, and Pashto to support translation accuracy and cultural relevance. This role involves translating documents and providing on-site interpretation services at community support centers.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Interpreter- Dari/Pashto: 55,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Interpreter- Dari/Pashto Responsibilities Include:

• Attends meetings and acts as official translator to mediate discussion.
• Relays concepts and ideas between languages.
• Converts written materials from one language into another, such as official documentation.
• Creates a new text in the target language that reproduces the content and style of the original.
• Edits and proofreads text to accurately reflect language.
• Receives and submits assignments electronically.
• Uses dictionaries and glossaries for reference.
• Employs computer-assisted translation.
• Facilitates communication for people with limited English proficiency.
• Interprets both legal terminology and colloquial language.
• Reads aloud documents in a language other than that in which they were written.
• Provides language services to people with limited English proficiency.
• Translates patient materials issued by professionals and facilities into another language.
• Accompanies foreign visitor and facilitate communication between receiving party and visitors.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Interpreter- Dari/Pashto Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

• Associate's degree in foreign language(s) at least 5 years in a translator role
• Fluency in English, Dari, and Pashto.
• Experience in translation and interpretation.
• Strong attention to detail and cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Dari/Pashto
• Ability to act as an effective interpreter for children with Dari/Pashto as their primary language.
• Familiarity with and certification for protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
