Overview
TRC is actively seeking a highly motivated entry level Field Scientists and Field Geologists to support our growing Environmental, Construction & Remediation (ECR) practice in New England (and beyond) managed from our Lowell, MA office.
Responsibilities
TRC is seeking entry-level Field Scientists and Field Geologists to join our ECR practice in Lowell, Massachusetts. This team excels in:
- Environmental cleanup integrated with redevelopment and construction;
- Brownfield site revitalization support and design services for community programs and development organizations;
- Emergency response for utility companies and Class I and II railroad clients;
- Due diligence, remedy design, and implementation under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) and similar response action and remediation programs in NH, ME, CT, VT, and RI.
Qualifications
- Work under the direction of Mid- to Senior-level Staff to scope, cost, plan, and execute a variety of environmental projects;
- Support a wide variety of projects including emergency response, environmental site investigations and remediation, on both project sites and from the office;
- Prepare clear and accurate records of field work performed such as soil boring logs, site sketches/drawings, annotated photographs, both by hand and via mobile electronic devices and applications (e.g., smart phones, tablets).
- Interpreting data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to regulations to ensure compliance;
- Support the authorship of technical documents, reports and designs, to help senior staff ensure consistent delivery of work products associated with assigned tasks;
- Support the preparation of permit applications;
- Prepare for work activities, e.g., plan field work, develop work plans, and coordinate with subcontractors and clients as outlined by Project Managers and Task Leads;
- Collaborate effectively with fellow colleagues to meet project goals;
- Approach training and development efforts and coaching offered by TRC with energy and intentionality;
- Expect and adapt to diverse work assignments often running simultaneously and at different stages and paces;
- Work under the direction of Project Managers and Task Managers and execute work in accordance with agreed upon budget for the scope of work and schedule with minimal to modest levels of supervision;
- Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic regional travel and client support;
- Follow TRC's safety, quality, and project management programs.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or Environmental Science;
- 0 to 3 years of environmental/geologic consulting experience. Educational experience will be considered (e.g., relevant internships, progress toward or acquisition of an advanced degree in a job-appropriate area of study);
- Understanding and applying basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to support the development of solutions for technical problems with limited scope and budgets;
- Ability to work independently and in a project team with clear written and oral communications, presentations, analytical, professional judgment, and collaborative skills;
- Initiative to learn through on-the-job experience;
- Possession of a valid driver's license and vehicle, and willingness to travel regionally or nationally periodically for project work;
- Ability to work in outdoor environments for extended periods of time; and
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
Desired Qualifications:
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (with applicable refresher certification) is a plus.
- Possess a mechanical aptitude and ability to use tools to advance the objectives of field project assignments;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and relevant office software;
- Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS and Microsoft Project or equivalent project scheduling packages a plus; and
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background, check, drug screen and motor vehicle records check.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range
USD $63,003.00 - USD $78,624.00 /Yr.
