Position Summary: JMT's Hunt Valley, MD office is seeking a Bridge Inspection Engineer responsible for assisting a Professional Engineer in performing NBIS inspections of in-service transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and traffic device support structures. Benefits \| JMT Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assist with contractor coordination Assist with scheduling access equipment Assist with preparing condition assessment reports Assist with developing repair recommendations and cost estimates Assist with preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills Analytical thinking, problem-solving and organization Ability to work on multiple project assignments in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment Experience in using Microsoft Office software including WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint Ability to write, speak, and communicate effectively Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening Valid driver's license Required Experience Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a structural concentration Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate 3-4 years or more experience in performing in-service bridge safety, ancillary and other structural inspections Preferred Certifications OSHA Fall Protection Training OSHA Confined Space Training Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) training CSX/Norfolk Southern RR Contractor Safety Badge MTA RWP Training Working Conditions Work is performed in the office (50% of the time) and in the field (50% of the time). Field work will be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions and on uneven terrain or surfaces. Candidate must have the ability to perform inspections while bending, kneeling, or standing, and lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed. Work will require the operation of access equipment and performing inspections at heights requiring fall protection, and in confined spaces requiring confined space equipment. Field work may require short duration out-of-town travel.
