About the Opportunity:
At Rio Tinto, we believe our people are our greatest strength. We're excited to welcome a new Sampler/Surveyor to our dedicated Lab team in Salt Lake City, UT. In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in collecting and preparing in-pit blasthole samples, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency every step of the way.
You'll collaborate closely with Lab Management and the Ore Control Team, contribute to continuous improvement efforts, and help us maintain a clean, organized, and high-performing work environment. Whether you're working independently or as part of a team, your contributions will help drive our mission forward.
What You'll Be Doing - Supporting Our Zero Harm Commitment
- Safely collect, track, and process in-pit blasthole samples.
- Use field scanners and tablets to document sample data and ensure quality.
- Analyze sample results and support improvements in data accuracy.
- Prepare quality control samples and support our QA/QC program.
- Operate both manual and semi-automated lab equipment, including NIR tools.
- Drive mobile equipment to access pit areas and deliver samples to the Central Lab.
- Follow standard procedures to ensure data integrity and lab compliance.
- Help write and maintain SOPs, SWIs, JSAs, and risk assessments.
- Troubleshoot equipment and resolve quality control issues with care and precision.
