Job Description

Elwyn seeks an Executive Director of Adult Behavioral Health to assume overall responsibility for leadership, vision, direction, and daily supervision of region-specific operation functions and agency-wide forensic program services. Ensures implementation of responsible clinical and administrative management practices congruent with the organization's mission, resulting in high-quality client-centered services and sound fiscal management.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Adult Behavioral Health's comprehensive array of services and programs in the Northeast plus agency-wide forensic programs.
  • Review services offered on an ongoing basis, develop new programs as needs emerge, and oversee all activities related to licensure, human rights, personnel, finance, contracts, and reimbursement for services.
  • Inform the SVP ABH of all operational issues and accomplishments.
  • Partner with the SVP Adult Behavioral Health and peers of the Administrative Leadership Team for all regional and agency-wide program planning, organizing, operating, and staffing.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the regional operational aspects of the annual budget in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and SVP Adult Behavioral Health.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, funding, and city regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements.
  • Assist the SVP Adult Behavioral Health in regional planning, organizing, and implementing public and private fundraising initiatives.
  • Provide effective and inspiring leadership and stewardship by being actively involved in all regional programs and services.
  • Implement and lead a continuous quality improvement process throughout the region, focusing on systems/process improvement.
  • Lead a high-performing team of Regional and Program Directors by developing and implementing recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
  • Engage with appropriate partnering agencies, boards, schools, businesses, and governmental and non-governmental funding and reimbursement sources.
  • Represent Adult Behavioral Health with regional external constituency groups, including community, governmental, and private organizations.
  • Ensure that all regional program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of Adult Behavioral Health.
  • Prepare and submit a regional annual operational budget, manage effectively within this budget, and report accurately on progress made or challenges encountered.
  • Ensure the continued financial viability of Adult Behavioral Health's regional operational units through sound fiscal management and reimbursement programs.
  • Provide programmatic leadership and input for all strategic planning processes with the SVP Adult Behavioral Health/ and staff.
  • Identify business development opportunities in the region and contribute to the proposal process.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business, public health, administration, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of overall professional experience in healthcare or human services, with a minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience supervising seasoned staff.
  • Extensive experience and training in the field of mental health is preferred.
  • Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams, developing an organization-wide strategy for program excellence, engaging community partners, and partnering with the SVP Adult Behavioral Health/.
  • Demonstrates integrity, strives for excellence in work, and has experience leading others to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact.
  • Thoroughly knowledgeable of a comprehensive and complex array of funding and reimbursement programs and mechanisms, e.g., Medicaid, MCOs.
  • Passionate about mental health and the empowerment of individuals to participate in their own treatment.
  • Ability to promote and communicate the philosophy, mission, and values of Adult Behavioral Health to external and internal stakeholders.
  • Core competencies integrated into essential duties include developing others, managing performance, strategic thinking, quality improvement, decisiveness, managing change, initiative, results orientation, resilience and perseverance, and oral/written communication.
