Summary Perform all duties and phases of procurement and planning in support of company objectives, policies, and requirements with minimal oversight from management. Specialize in the planning and procurement of material, machined parts, hardware, and special processes. Ensure that proper inventory levels are maintained, and lead times are in alignment with the needs of the business. Communicate with internal and external customers. Promote teamwork within the company. Provides leadership and training to fellow teammates.

Responsibilities:



  • Negotiate, execute and manage the procurement of raw materials and/or subcontracted machining and special processes in support of product requirements. Including but not limited to obtaining quotes, negotiate pricing and awarding purchase orders.
  • Ensure purchase order accuracy and compliance to customer and Kamatics specifications, requirements, and procedures.
  • Determine and flow down material requirements from engineering drawings, contract review and special customer requirements to suppliers through purchase orders. Schedule, plan and expedite purchase orders in accordance with management, financial, engineering, quality, and schedule objectives.
  • Ensure visual management tools and metrics are established and maintained.
  • Coordinate and support marketing and engineering objectives by providing quotations in accordance with lead-time guidelines.
  • Manage supplier relationships based on value stream needs and ensure continued support of company, customer, and supplier objectives.

    • Maintain and communicate supplier promise dates to stakeholders
    • Manage concerns regarding supplier performance and escalate as needed.
    • Perform supplier assessments based on capabilities, equipment and quality systems.
    • Communicate general business status to suppliers to prepare for changes in demand.
    • Assist in the development of new suppliers, processes, materials, services as appropriate to business/product requirements. Involve critical individuals/resources to solve problems.
    • Perform cost analysis associated with suppliers, such as late deliveries, poor quality, shipping costs, etc. Provide analysis of data and present best options to the business.


  • Develop and investigate new sources of supply and make the recommendations to the management team.
  • Identify and collect data on items eligible for contracting. Assess the date and provide proposals as to what should or should not be contracted. Collaborate with management to strategize best options and practices.
  • Proactively engage and collaborate with Business Stakeholders to solve operational issues and problems related to Purchase Orders/Maintenance with speed and quality.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable in resolving invoice issues in a timely manner. Acts as a liaison between the accounts payable personnel and the supplier.
  • Evaluate, analyze and make recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contribute to 5S programs in work area.
  • Develop, maintain and generate spreadsheets, reports, and presentations as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to Value Stream Manager.
  • Comply with Kaman's Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplish related results as required.



Qualifications



  • Education: BS degree in Business Management, Supply Chain or related field
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of Purchasing/Planning experience in a manufacturing environment. Aerospace industry experience is preferred.
