Job Description

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. SW Engineer (multiple openings) in Foster City to:

  • Work within a team to generate business insights based on big data, identify actionable recommendations and communicate the findings to clients.
  • Brainstorm innovative ways to use our unique data to answer business problems.
  • Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa's internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings.
  • Actively contribute to product development and quality improvements, value added services technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads.
  • Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutions.
  • Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later Technology.
  • Work alongside others to implement modifications to existing software code that complies with design specifications and meets security best practices.
  • Assist with improvements to systems and tools and support developments and implementation of new automation, asking questions if necessary.
  • Engage with team members and managers during code/design reviews, participates in on-call rotations and incident responses throughout product development and operations cycles.
  • Identify issues in code, processes, and designs when they are inconsistent with customer/business objectives.
  • Position reports to the Foster City, California office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Qualifications

Employer will accept a Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a software engineer-related occupation.

Position requires experience in the following skills:

  • Developing back-end code using Python, Java, C++, or PHP in support of package and product development;
  • Developing and utilizing Application Program Interfaces (APIs), a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications that specify how software components should interact and are used when programming graphical user interface (GUI) components;
  • Performing data extraction, aggregation, and analysis, and providing visualization for dashboards and communication using Python, SQL, and Spark;
  • Using database software to maintain, modify, and output data.
  • Working with the systems integration process in which separately produced components or subsystems are combined and problems in their interactions are addressed; and
  • Data structures, which consist of data organization, management, and storage formats that enable efficient access and modifications.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $168,397.00 USD to $182,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
