Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Job Description

The Chief Operating Officer is a key position for the Bank. This management position will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be responsible for the overall day-to-day management of key departments within the Bank. The COO coordinates activities of the Bank in accordance with the policies and objectives established by the CEO and the Board of Directors. Specific duties include:



  • Is a strategic partner on the bank's senior management team and participates significantly in developing overall policies, programs, objectives and goals.
  • Is responsible for the coaching, training, development and overall management of the sales and service team in all branches.
  • Is responsible for the Bank's compliance with deposit and other related regulations.
  • Is responsible for overseeing the bank's marketing efforts. Will work with the Marketing Manager to keep initiatives on task, on target and on time.
  • Manages the Bank Secrecy Act Officer and the bank's effort to remain compliant with all Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering regulations.
  • Is the Bank's physical Security Officer, conducting periodic inspections and annual reviews to ensure that the Bank is compliant with all appropriate regulations as well as being a safe and secure environment for our employees to perform their duties.
  • Is responsible for supervising the team that maintains the bank's physical plant in all locations. Ensures all necessary upkeep and repairs are completed to keep the buildings presenting a professional appearance.
  • Represents the Bank in the areas managed during audits and examinations and oversees the responses and information gathering related to such.
  • Identifies methods to improve quality, efficiency, productivity, improve customer experiences, reduce costs, improve profitability, reduce risk and improve control measures.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • A successful candidate will hold themselves accountable to know all aspects of the job (retail and business deposit-related products, services, pricing, systems, compliance, policies, and procedures) and take the initiative to be involved with all aspects of the various roles that you manage. Identify staff weaknesses with knowledge of banking products, services, and applicable regulations. Work with management to define a list of training priorities and facilitate as necessary.

Experience Required for Position

10+ years' varied experience in Banking with a history of increased responsibilities and extensive history of staff supervision and leadership.

Strong Strategic planning and multi-tasking skills

Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Extensive knowledge of bank regulatory requirements

Job Details

Salaried management position. Salary range $100,000-$200,000 commensurate with experience.

Travel to all branch locations will be required from time to time.

This position is supervised by the Chief Executive Officer.
