Job Family Description

Engineering Support roles encompass a diverse range of positions that provide technical assistance and expertise to engineering teams across various disciplines. These roles may involve tasks such as conducting research, performing analyses, and assisting in the design and development of engineering projects. Engineering support professionals work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.

Discipline Description

Engineering specialists support engineers in the design, modification, improvement, and maintenance of products, processes, and systems in support of nuclear facility operations and missions. Activities include identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. They may develop/configure software and/or applications. They monitor processes, estimate costs, make, or verify calculations, and analyze and interpret data. They test new and modified products, processes, and/or systems.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

The SRNS Operational Technology (OT) organization is seeking to hire an Engineer & Technical Support Specialist (E&TSS) Process Control Technologist.
The selected candidate will correspond both orally and in writing with facility personnel, technical experts, and work group members. Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences on subjects of limited technical difficulty is required.

Major Responsibilities:
Assist higher level technicians and engineers, using standardized work methods or by receiving explicit instructions.
Perform hands on work with low voltage electrical components including, but not limited to troubleshooting, replacement, and installation of new components.
Develop, coordinate, and monitor technical aspects of facility operations including, but not limited to:
- facility/engineering/project work schedules
- design engineering outputs
- work packages
- process data
- maintenance
- surveillance testing
- and training

Perform troubleshooting on control system and/or system components.
Provide general technical or engineering design support. Extract, compile, and formulate data.

Prepare and review engineering documentation, including layout drawings, standards, and specifications.
Perform routine equipment, facility, or area walk downs to conduct equipment maintenance inspections. Document equipment and facility measurement control data, configuration, and other equipment details. Perform and maintain inventory of control system components.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

We'd Also Like to See

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.

Previous hands-on experience with either PLCs, DCSs, controls-related equipment or electrical systems.
Either completed Associate Degree in Electrical Fundamentals or equivalent, or comparable work experience with Electrical Systems.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
