Director, Engineering - Business Applications

The Director, Engineering - Business Applications is responsible for leading the Business Applications group, overseeing the design, architecture, and delivery of high-quality software solutions that power our internal operations. The scope of this job includes strategic oversight and hands-on management of critical business applications such as Salesforce, Oracle Fusion Financials, DocuSign, and their associated integrations with third-party systems. This Director will lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers and technical experts, driving both technical and operational excellence, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment, and proactively managing key stakeholder relationships across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior leadership to define the long-term technical vision and roadmap for the business application landscape, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and operational efficiencies.
  • Develop strategic proposals for major initiatives related to business system enhancements, new application rollouts, and complex integrations to gain executive approval and drive execution.
  • Influence business leaders across departments (Finance, Sales, Marketing, People & Talent, Legal, Client Experience) on key initiatives and projects, ensuring that business application solutions effectively meet organizational needs and drive business success.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire multiple engineering teams focused on internal business applications by fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Develop a strong, high-performing team by identifying growth opportunities, providing clear direction to engineering managers and senior engineers, and supporting their professional development.
  • Be hands-on in understanding the technical details and architectural nuances of our core business systems, providing expert guidance and ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of major technical initiatives related to business applications, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery that meets functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, process owners, and other IT departments to align goals, solution features, and timelines to deliver cohesive, scalable, and reliable business solutions.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate risks in both technical and operational areas specific to business application environments, ensuring system stability, data integrity, and compliance.
  • Act as a key point of contact between the business applications engineering teams and executive leadership, proactively communicating project status, risks, and successes.
  • Provide clear insights into technical decisions and their potential business impact, translating complex technical concepts into business-friendly terms for diverse audiences.
  • Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional business partners, understanding their challenges and proactively proposing technology solutions.
  • Leverage AI tools and platforms as an integral part of daily responsibilities to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows, optimize business application performance, and drive data-informed outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in enterprise business applications, cloud platforms, and integration strategies to continuously improve our internal systems.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the technology organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 8-10 years of related work experience
  • At least 4-5 years of Management work experience
  • Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams focused on enterprise business applications.
  • Deep functional and technical understanding of major business systems like Salesforce, Oracle Fusion (or similar ERP/Financials), and document management systems (e.g., DocuSign).
  • Strong background in designing, implementing, and managing integrations between disparate business applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop long-term roadmaps, and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills with a focus on empowering individuals and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and an ability to dive into details when necessary.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

  • Healthcare industry experience
