Dotdash Meredith is seeking a Head of Creative Video Production to lead the development and execution of YouTube-first content across our diverse portfolio of lifestyle and entertainment brands. This role will oversee a growing team of producers, directors, and development creatives to conceptualize, plan, and produce premium video programming that grows viewership, revenue, and elevates brand identity. The ideal candidate is a strategic production leader who is highly influential with a deep understanding of how to build YouTube channels and create hits across a variety of content genres, formats, and talent types.

The Head of Creative Video Production should be able to manage and offer enhancements to various internal systems for production, while collaborating across teams to build and maintain workflows for talent bookings, casting, pre-production, production, and post-production. They will help optimize productions and be the force that guides producers and directors to bring great ideas to life in ways that exceed viewership goals, are on-brand, connect with strategy, and efficiently utilize resources.

The Dotdash Meredith video team produces hundreds of videos across many brands and categories, so this is a unique role for a passionate producer to flex producorial, organizational, and managerial skills across an exciting scope of content. We are looking for a natural team leader with an excellent eye for detail, an ability to juggle various productions at once, and experience bringing the best out of seasoned creative minds.

Hybrid 3x a week- (New York City)

In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute Creative Vision: Contribute to and shepherd the creative vision for Dotdash Meredith's YouTube video content in alignment with overall video strategy, brand, and company goals.

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, manage, and mentor a talented team of producers and directors focused on developing and executing innovative long-form formats for YouTube.

  • Content Development: Oversee the ideation and develop a greenlighting process for new series and formats. Ensure pitches align with channel growth strategies, business needs, editorial voice, and audience insights.

  • Production Oversight: Supervise all stages of production-from pre-production planning and budgeting to on-set execution and post-production-ensuring creative excellence and efficiency. Build a roster of strong relationships with external creators and vendors.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Build strong relationships throughout the organization, across Editorial, Sales & Marketing, Brand Video Leads, and Post-Production.

  • Creative Standards: Uphold the highest standards of creative storytelling, visual design, and editorial integrity.

  • Performance Optimization & Innovation: Use performance data and viewer insights to inform and evolve creative direction and production decisions.

  • Budget Management: Oversee budgets and resourcing for all creative productions to maximize output without compromising quality.

The Role's Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in digital video content creation, with at least 5 years in a leadership or executive producer role, ideally for YouTube-first video at a publisher, production company, or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Experience managing budgets and large-scale content calendars.

  • Extensive experience on set with A-list level talent.

  • Extensive experience on set with expert talent, such as academics and specialists.

  • Experience overseeing productions and producers, both local and remote, in all stages of the production cycle.

  • Hands-on experience dealing with booking celebrity talent, coordinating with talent representatives as well as PR representatives from relevant studios and production companies during press cycles.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

  • Confident and skilled communicator with a knack for rallying stakeholders and paving the way for collaboration.

  • Exceptional understanding of, and experience with, everything that goes into making highly successful YouTube videos for digital publishers that reach massive audiences.

  • A deeply comprehensive nuts-and-bolts understanding of producing small-scope video projects at high volume, often on short turnarounds.

  • Flawless organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and mastery of logistics. You foresee complications, make quick decisions, and troubleshoot on the fly.

  • Demonstrated success leading creative teams and managing full production pipelines, especially for YouTube or social video platforms.

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $130,000.00 - $145,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
