I-State Truck Center's Billings Montana location is seeking an experienced and skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Truck Body Shop Foreman to lead our body shop team in delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance for heavy-duty diesel trucks. The Foreman will oversee daily operations, manage a team of technicians, ensure work is completed efficiently and to industry standards, and maintain a safe and productive work environment. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in diesel truck body repair, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities



  • Supervise and Lead Team: Manage a team of body shop technicians, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring work is completed on time and to customer specifications.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed repairs to ensure they meet quality standards, including structural integrity, paint finish, and alignment with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Workflow Management: Plan and prioritize repair schedules to optimize shop efficiency, minimize downtime, and meet deadlines.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide hands-on support for complex repairs, including frame straightening, welding, body panel replacement, and paint application.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers to discuss repair needs, provide estimates, and update them on job progress.
  • Inventory and Equipment Management: Oversee inventory of parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring proper maintenance of equipment and availability of necessary materials.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and industry standards to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Training and Development: Mentor and train technicians to improve their skills and stay updated on industry advancements.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs, labor hours, parts used, and customer interactions for billing and reporting purposes.


Qualifications



  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy-duty diesel truck body repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in frame repair, welding (MIG/TIG), bodywork, and automotive painting. Knowledge of diesel truck systems and components is essential.
  • Certifications: ASE certification in Collision Repair or equivalent preferred. Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of technicians while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, customers, and management.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex repair issues and make decisions under pressure to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.


Preferred Skills



  • Familiarity with diagnostic and repair software for heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Experience with estimating repair costs and working with insurance adjusters.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations related to paint and hazardous materials.


Work Environment



  • Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend work as needed.
  • Work is performed in a body shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and heavy machinery.
  • Safety gear, including protective eyewear, gloves, and steel-toed boots, is required.
