I-State Truck Center's Billing Montana location is seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy-Duty Diesel Truck Body Shop Manager to oversee the operations of our body shop specializing in heavy-duty diesel trucks. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of collision repair for large vehicles, and a proven track record of managing teams to deliver high-quality repairs efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities
- Shop Operations Management: Oversee daily operations of the body shop, ensuring efficient workflow, timely repairs, and high-quality service for heavy-duty diesel trucks and related equipment.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate a team of technicians, painters, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Quality Control: Ensure all repairs meet industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and customer expectations, conducting inspections and approving completed work.
- Customer Service: Communicate with clients to provide repair estimates, updates, and explanations of work performed, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Inventory and Equipment Management: Manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring availability for repairs while controlling costs. Maintain and oversee proper use of shop equipment.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations. Maintain a clean and organized shop environment.
- Budget and Cost Management: Monitor shop performance metrics, manage budgets, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
- Vendor Relations: Coordinate with parts suppliers, insurance companies, and other vendors to streamline operations and negotiate favorable terms.
- Process Improvement: Implement and refine processes to improve efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and enhance service quality.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in collision repair or body shop management, with at least 3 years working specifically with heavy-duty diesel trucks or similar large vehicles.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of diesel truck body repair techniques, including welding, frame straightening, painting, and fabrication.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications: ASE certification, I-CAR certification, or equivalent credentials in collision repair or management preferred.
- Business Acumen: Experience with budgeting, cost control, and performance metrics in a shop environment.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with shop management software, estimating tools (e.g., CCC One, Audatex), and Microsoft Office.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in automotive technology, business management, or a related field is a plus.
Work Environment
- Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
- Work is performed in a body shop setting with exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and hazardous materials (with proper safety measures in place).
