Purpose of the Position

The Trainer I is considered an entry level training position at CBE Companies. The individual in this role will be spending their time learning and developing their own skills as a trainer. Trainer I will focus more attention on training of internal employees with less of a focus on the client and development of training content. Trainer I is expected to focus on their delivery and how it drives retention of the training material.

Education and Experience Preferences

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Six months collection experience preferred.

  • 1 year management or training/coaching experience required.

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with various levels of associates and management.

  • Strong facilitation skills are required.

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

  • A thorough understanding of instructional design techniques needs analysis, assessment techniques, adult learning theories, and measurement and evaluation models is also plus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective training delivery techniques is required.

  • Ability to travel to all branch locations and client if needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate 2-3-week new hire training classes at various times of the day and evening as dictated by business needs.

  • Provide backup training for other new hire training classes as needed.

  • Have the flexibility to adjust new hire training length and portfolio due to business need.

  • Facilitate, manage, and document the specific training steps that detail training timelines and processes for new employee collection training, which includes new hire training, and continuing education for new hires and seasoned employees.

  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations governing the collection industry and provide education to Collectors to ensure compliance of such laws.

  • Assist in the development and deployment of annual trainings.

  • Train new hires and current collectors on collection and client systems

  • Prepare, update, and deliver course/program materials, manuals, outlines, lesson plans, schedules, and other classroom material.

  • Review and understand all operational collection SOP's.

  • Continually evaluate training for effectiveness by establishing measurement systems and implementing improvements.

  • Communicate with the collection Management staff and collection staff to identify training needs.

  • Learn and teach the laws and regulations that govern the collection industry.

  • Continuously monitor to identify potential FDCPA violations and work with the collectors to avoid them in the future.

  • Promote increased collection productivity and compliance through coaching, one-on-one call monitoring and blind monitoring non-budget hitters and budget hitting collectors when not in new hire training.

  • Provide the appropriate member of management with the results of any completed staff training session, detailing individual results, needs, weaknesses, and strengths.

  • Learn and utilize accelerated training techniques.

  • Learn, understand, and utilize collection reports.

  • Attend training meetings held in the departments you are training new hires to transfer to.

  • Incorporate CBE's core values and Better U into all training programs and ensure that these core values are being adopted.

  • When required, conduct or witness employee disciplinary actions with another member of the management team.

  • Gain a clear understanding of all CBE departments and subsidiaries.

  • Learn, understand, and teach all CBE Corporate policies and procedures that apply.

  • Design and update portfolio specific training manuals.

  • Train new clients as necessary.

  • Train new client software as needed.

  • Conduct and support all company-training initiatives as assigned.

  • Utilize technical tools to better monitor and enhance collector performance.

  • Work with existing collectors to help continue their development when not in new hire training.

  • When needed, take on role of Operational Supervisor on collection floor.
