Reuters Video News is looking for a versatile and creative news producer fora TEMPORARY role as a Video Producer to join our team in Washington, DC. We are looking for a candidate who is obsessed with news - from local to international - and comes armed with a readiness to turn out fast and accurate edits for our global client base.You must be willing to workas part of arotating shift system. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interest in a broad range of coverage - from U.S. politics to international relations, social issues and climate themes, extreme weather and natural disasters.

About the Role

As our Video Producer, you will:

  • Produce, edit, write and deliver agency video stories, both from the office and sometimes in the field
  • Respond quickly to major breaking news events, in a responsible manner
  • Have a sharp eye for visual news elements and video storytelling
  • Have the ability to work long hours, some weekend shifts, often under extreme pressure
  • Occasionally be scheduled to oversee overnight newsgathering and production in North America
  • Have a thorough understanding of television news technology and social media usage by news organizations
  • Excellent communication skills

*Shift work required- The role will cover some overnight shifts and weekends

About You

You're a fit for the role of Video Producer, if you likely have:

  • The ability to work overnight and weekend hours, making decisions in an unsupervised environment
  • Significant experience as a professional video producer
  • A track record of working with multimedia and video packaging teams
  • Experience in broadcast or agency television newsgathering and production
  • Strong skills in driving accuracy and speed while upholding Thomson Reuters editorial principles and policies
  • Understanding of the needs of broadcast and digital clients, regionally and internationally
  • Willingness to travel to breaking news stories, often at short notice
  • Excellent English writing skills

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation hourly range for the role in any of those locations is $40 - $72/hr.
