Do you enjoy streamlining processes through automation and dislike repetitive tasks? As a Senior DevSecOps Engineer, you will architect, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available cloud-native infrastructure to support critical national security initiatives. As part of the Tools and Services team within the Platform Section of SD Applications, you'll collaborate with software developers, data scientists, and IT stakeholders to automate deployment processes and ensure reliable software delivery. Using your expertise in configuration management, Kubernetes administration, and scripting, you will manage robust Linux and Kubernetes environments, integrate monitoring and alerting tools, and enhance CI/CD pipelines with security best practices. This role requires technical leadership, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to solving complex operational and security challenges in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

Pay Range

$168,780 - $214,032 Yearly at the SES.3 level

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.


Job Description
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, data scientists, and the Tools & Services team to design and maintain DevOps infrastructure supporting 24x7 uptime and frequent software delivery.
  • Use configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) to configure and manage secure, highly available Linux environments.
  • Architect and oversee Docker/Kubernetes infrastructure on Linux to meet operational, development, and security needs.
  • Deploy and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging tools for infrastructure visibility.
  • Document and version control IT infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools; track work status in GitLab.
  • Enhance and support GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments, integrating security checks in collaboration with security teams.
  • Automate deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cluster environments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Advanced experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for enforcing standard environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes administration, including installation, networking, security, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the software project life cycle: feasibility, requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing and deployment.
  • Broad experience with software development or system administration using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby, Groovy, Go, PowerShell).
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing release and workflow pipelines using CI/CD systems such as Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain technical information to all levels of personnel.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience deploying and managing production Kubernetes clusters utilizing on-premises hardware.
  • Master's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field.
