Summary
Provide technical support services associated with the design, construction and operation of CenterPoint Energy's overhead & underground Transmission system & Substation facilities.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Review and analyze structural drawings, plan and profile drawings, electric one-lines, schematics, and load analysis.
- Support the design of overhead and underground Transmission & Substation facilities for the Indiana electric system.
- Utilize engineering tools to produce or modify required engineering drawings (AutoCAD, PLS CAD, GIS, etc.).
- Support the review of engineering consultant work to insure it complies with CNP(IN) standards.
- Prepare estimates, work orders, easement documents, agreement letters, operational agreements, memorandums, field reports, business letters and technical documents as needed and maintain engineering documentation files.
- Support the construction, operation and maintenance of the Transmission & Substation system through communication with field personnel and customers.
- Make preliminary facilities inspections, examine construction and/or fabrication project in progress and provide recommendations of observations as needed.
- Work closely with governmental agencies regarding construction and relocation of Transmission & Substation facilities related to civil infrastructure additions/modifications.
- Gather and analyze data related to Transmission & Substation systems.
- Manage multiple projects.
Education
Requires either a minimum of sixty hours of college credits in an engineering discipline or other technical area or on-the-job technical experience in an engineering or electric utility environment. Will consider substitution of work experience for college credit with two years working in an engineering/construction environment.
Experience
Requires a minimum of four years of experience performing technical work in an engineering or utility environment. Competency in utilization of engineering software for preparing engineering drawings is preferred.

- Able to apply knowledge and experience to daily decisions.
- Able to apply knowledge, experience, and personal judgment in the resolution of issues.
- Able to communicate effectively with internal and external engineering and construction personnel, customers, and others in written and verbal form.
- Able to use a personal computer (database, spreadsheet and word processing) for technical engineering applications, SAP, GIS and CAD Software (AutoCAD or PLS CAD).
- Able to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Indiana driver's license.
