Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide in person and phone assistance for student account/cashier functions such as customer account issues/resolutions, student support, MSRP refunds, reconciliation reports, faculty/staff support, 3rd party transactions, and departmental transactions. This position includes addressing student issues, monitoring refunds, resolving billing issues, responding to employee questions regarding student's account, posting student tuition waivers/affidavits, and accepting/posting student payments. This position will serve as the liaison with other MCC departments as it pertains to cashier functions/activities.

Essential Functions

30% - Process, create, and research student account/cashier transactions such as account payments, reconciliation reports, and account issues; perform high level review and analysis and prepares recommendations; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; review and resolve escalated customer complaints; service provided in person or by phone

25% - Post payments to system (VA Payments, student payments, foundation payments, etc.); prepare departmental deposits; assist with reconciling accounts, reimbursables, deposits, and account receivables; audit and ensure fiscal document accuracy

20% - Assist faculty, staff, and students with tuition waivers, out of county affidavits; work closely with internal departments to facilitate cash handling processes are adhered to; maintain data in fiscal system

15% - Prepare and balance daily cash reports, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and make corrections as necessary; maintain appropriate file and record-keeping systems in accordance with state record retention laws

10% - Duties may be assigned to assist in person or phone; other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of financial support experience in an area related to assignment such as fiscal, finance, accounts receivable/payable or payroll.

OR

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in an area directly related to the assignment.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience working with confidential information

B. Experience with computerized student information systems such as PeopleSoft, Banner or CampusVue

C. Experience analyzing data and communicating results in person and by phone

D. Experience working in a higher educational setting

E. Experience utilizing a high degree of customer service skills in person and by phone

F. Experience in banking, student accounts, or retail financial transactions

Special Working Conditions

Work Schedule Monday - Thursday, 8 hours shift between 7:30 am- 6:30 pm; Fridays 7:30 am-5:30 pm

Peak Hour Schedule Monday - Thursday, 8 hours shift between 7:30 am - 7:30 pm; Fridays 7:30 am - 5:30 pm

Summer Hour Schedule Monday - Thursday 10 Hours shift between 7:00 am - 6:30 pm

May be required to work evenings and weekends during peak times.

May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time, viewing a computer monitor and answering phone

Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily
