Flint Hills Resources is seeking a talented Solutions Architect to join our Architecture team at our Wichita, KS headquarters. This position involves being a part of a team that collaborates to develop solutions designed to drive increased value and accelerate transformation across the organization. As a Solutions Architect, you'll work with IT and business teams to understand their needs, assist in defining problems, and identify solutions that align with the organization's objectives.

In this role you will need to stay current with emerging technologies, assess the capabilities of vendor platforms, and evaluate technical advancements in coding languages that could create efficiencies for our business. Your day-to-day work could involve leading the development of shared custom platforms, providing prototypes and developing proposals & architectural designs that drive business decisions to help adopt the right transformation. Your technical expertise will be used to provide recommendations that align with business objectives while considering the broader impact. A candidate who is a self-starter and is proactive will be a great fit for this opportunity.

What You Will Do

  • Develop solutions for high-impact, high-profile business transformations across multiple capabilities in alignment with the vision set forth by FHR leadership.
  • Evaluate and challenge initiatives by weighing their value and effort against technical business requirements. Work with business leaders to refine scope, using economic analysis to assess risks and inform buy-versus-build decisions. Analyze software platforms to deliver compliant technical recommendations.
  • Ensure business leaders, product teams, and engineers fully understand the proposed solution and its alternatives, including effort estimates and risk profiles. Collaboratively develop detailed proposals that clearly outline each option, and partner with stakeholders to select the most effective course of action.
  • Work closely with engineers and other IT capabilities throughout solution implementation to ensure the software architecture adheres to the intended technical design.
  • Explore and experiment with cloud-based solutions and technical innovations that drive business transformation and contribute to our shared IT platform.
  • Develop and maintain architectural diagrams-covering integration patterns and other software patterns-to guide teams and ensure alignment with FHR's architecture principles.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technical architecture strategies and industry best practices, and guide colleagues in adopting and applying them across the organization.
  • Design, develop, and own shared software platforms, tools and services that empower software engineers and IT professionals to drive efficiency across IT capabilities.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience implementing and leading large-scale vendor applications or custom-developed solutions
  • Experience working with multiple programming languages, with preferred proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, Python, C#, and React
  • Experience with modern cloud platforms and tools such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and various SaaS solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) products and tools, including Lambda, SNS, SQS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Redshift, and S3
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, from detailed execution to broad overviews

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, methodologies, and tools such as CI/CD pipelines, Lean principles, and Azure DevOps
  • Experience with containerization technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, Fargate, Google Cloud Run, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Experience working with Neo4j and Cypher queries
