JOB OVERVIEW:

The Grower Accounting Sr. Finance Manager will be responsible for grower reporting and accounting functions and supervision of the grower accounting team. The Grower Accounting Sr. Finance Manager will operate as a key member of the Blue Diamond finance leadership team reporting to the SVP Finance.

This position will ensure accurate and timely payments to growers, perform proper accounting of all grower payment settlements as well as timely account reconciliations. Responsibilities will also include on-going communication and education of the Member Relations staff related to the different payment
programs and contracts with member growers. Responsibilities will also include an in depth understanding and oversight of the GIS (Grower Information System) tool (custom BDG Tool). Presents progress payments and other analysis on a regular basis to the BDG Leadership Team and to The Board of
Directors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure timely and accurate disbursement to growers in accordance with the provisions included in the payment plans and programs as well as any specific details included in each of the grower contracts. Including and not limited to deployment of funds to different entities, specific tonnage, or variety commitments.
  • Ensures financial information for our grower clients is prepared in a timely and accurate fashion in accordance with their specific contracts. Work with Regional Managers to update and amend grower contracts to reflect updated and most accurate agreements.
  • Supervise and lead the grower accounting team giving direction on all aspects of grower payments. Ensure accuracy and alignment with commitments, troubleshoot any issues that arise. Supervise GIS inputs and ensure accuracy of reports and outputs.
  • Communicate with growers regarding payment for deliveries, prepare weekly delivery advances in a timely and accurate manner. Process appropriate deductions from grower accounts.
  • Compiling and preparing work papers (1099 / K1) to support the grower's preparation of their U.S. Federal and State income tax. Assist on special projects as needed, including preparation for quarterly board meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 10 years of finance level experience. The successful candidate will have broad-based accounting experience.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills are vital for success in this role. It requires the ability to establish credibility, build constructive relationships and impact cross-functionally at all levels in the organization. It also requires the ability to synthesize, simplify and present complex information and concepts to non-financial audiences.
  • Developed financial and business analytical skills and attention to detail are required; to understand and interpret business results and plans, and to provide insights to improve business results and grower returns.
  • Must be knowledgeable in standard business software (MS Office, ERPs) to at least an intermediate level, and with the aptitude to quickly become an advanced user. SAP experience preferred. Requires knowledge of business intelligence system.
  • Frequent sitting at a computer terminal. Regular visual concentration for reading, reviewing reports and on-screen data.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Typical office environment and may require occasional manufacturing area visits.
