The D422 Stowage System Engineering position that will support the COLUMBIA (CLB) CLASS program stowage design and certification efforts.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinate all aspects of the stowage process in accordance with MDD-00054, MDP-00459, MDD-00096, MDD-00102, MDD-02177 and MDD-02712 for CLB.
- Work with existing D422, D469, D480 and D484 Design Techs, Program Reps and Engineers to support stowage arrangement and outfitting.
- Provide oversight for the coordination of the CLB Design and Stowage SBS.
- Participate in team reviews, provide technical oversight and support engineering/design in generating Stowage StowA forms and StowI Forms and integrating stowage data.
- Prescreen, review, support and approve STOWI requests and assist with concern adjudication.
- Track and validate arrangement of CLB to ensure platform stowage requirements are being maintained and accurately reported.
- Provide platform level oversight and identify and execute actions in coordination with the Stowage Management Team (SMT) and Stowage Integration Team (SIT).
- Interface with Design and Engineering departments, Newport News, Vendors, SUPSHIP and NAVSEA as required to support CLB design development.
- Support completion of all stowage forms, workflows, and engage stake holders to resolve deficiencies.
- Support Major Area Team Leaders, Arrangements and Cognizant Engineers in development of all stowage related approval summaries.
- Review and CNs for undocumented impacts that provide the design changes to stowages and ensure associated stowage aid and item data forms are complete.
- Perform stowage platform requirement development, identify opportunities for cost reductions, develop build strategies and validate methods to ensure producible end products.
- Facilitate correct and consistent interpretation of stowage ship specification requirements and act as a stakeholder for any specification change proposals.
- Provide procedural and logistic stowage guidance to Structural Design (D459) and Engineering (D484/D480), Arrangements Design (D469), Materials, Planning, various Systems Engineering departments and the warehouse.
- Assist with writing and maintaining stowage related processes, procedures, and DpDs
- Liaison to the warehouse
- Deck plate support for stowage load-out
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Systems, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
- 5 + years Engineering experience
- Design processes/work methods, as well as NX/Teamcenter functionality
- 2 years of experience with stowage/logistics requirements and processes
- Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred:
- Experience working with COLUMBIA Design SBS
- Experience working with CLB Stowage SBS of VA LDS SDF
- Experience with COLUMBIA Class Stowage process
- Experience with Arrangements, Mechanical or Structural Stowage Designs
- Leadership experience
- Experience mentoring/coaching others
- Experience with Shipyard interface
- Experience writing and/or reviewing technical letters, technical documents, procedures, and specifications
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, pivot tables, macros, big data management,
- Experience with IPDE Teamcenter
