The University Library campus is seeking to hire a Systems Administrator Lead, on a full-time basis at our Atlanta campus. The scope of the responsibilities will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following:

Library Server Administration:

Manage and maintain the library's physical and virtual server and storage environment utilizing VMWare, SAN, Windows and Linux platforms. Implementation and maintenance of the client/server architecture consisting of local and cloud storage for the library's archival files. Apply patches, upgrade and perform general maintenance and repair on production and development systems to ensure continued security, availability, reliability, and functionality.

Backup Administration:



  • Configure, manage, and monitor the library's data backup environment including both local and cloud-based systems.
  • Define backup policies and retention schedules.
  • Track, diagnose, and resolve problems related to backup failures including network connectivity, storage issues, or software conflicts.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of backup procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.


Application Administration:



  • Serve as the local system administrator and liaison to campus IT, consortia, or vendors for library systems or applications such as PC Reservation, ILLiad, CONTENTdm, and other library vendor products.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and policies to maintain operational consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, implementing and further improvement to single sign-on, certificates and other authentication methods and practices used for access to library resources and services.


Technology Support:



  • Perform troubleshooting, determine, and implement resolutions to various hardware and software issues.


Other duties as assigned:



  • Support the strategic priorities of the University Library by assisting the Systems team with other projects and duties as required.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience


Preferred Requirements:



  • Experience managing and maintaining physical and virtual servers running both Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with other IT professionals.
