Overview

The Nurse Manager manages unit-based patient care services; including personnel and fiscal management and development of programs and services. Participates in department and hospital performance improvement activities. Provides family centered patient care that is based on scientific theory and is outcome focused. Manages and coordinates care activities within the facility which include a variety of services.

This role will support The Primary Care Clinic, The Beacon Program and Operation Breakthrough.

The Children's Mercy Primary Care clinics are dedicated to the general health for children from birth through adolescence. Our team includes board-certified pediatricians and board-certified nurse practitioners who work closely with other providers to ensure a strong continuum of care for every child we serve. We strive to be culturally sensitive in all situations and are tireless advocates for children both locally and nationally.

The Beacon Program at Children's Mercy provides a pediatric medical home for hundreds of children with medical complexity. Our team streamlines the health care process for parents with at least one child with medical complexity, from birth to 21 years.

Children who come to our program typically have been diagnosed with complex, systemic, medical problems and use mechanical devices to treat their conditions. Complex or systemic medical problems can include:

    Cerebral palsy

  • Neurodegenerative disease

  • Neuromuscular disease

The Children's Mercy Operation Breakthrough Clinic is a medical home for children at Operation Breakthrough and the surrounding community. We offer family-centered holistic care for children from newborn to 21 years. We also provide nursing services at the school.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for clinic staff and assures adequate personnel and other workplace resources are present for the provision of safe, high quality patient care
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participates in department and organization performance improvement activities.
  • Utilizes financial data to effectively manage the department's operating budget, plan capital expenditures and formulate a business plan for new programs or services.

  • Actively participates and provides leadership for education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required and
    • 1-2 years experience
    • At least 12 months of experience in clinical nursing. or
  • Master's Degree preferred and
    • 1-2 years experience
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
    • MO or KS RN compact license required 90 days of hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Director) Required Upon Hire

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $44.67/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.



Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
