Position Overview

The Ceramic Clay Forming Supervisor oversees the clay forming department at a production facility in Aurora, NY, leading a team to meet production goals while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Supervise Staff: Lead, mentor, and motivate production teams.

* Schedule Production: Determine schedules, block shifts, and coordinate workflows.

* Quality Control: Ensure products meet quality standards and address issues.

* Efficiency Improvement: Implement measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.

* Safety: Maintain a safe work environment and comply with safety regulations.

* Performance Analysis: Review data to ensure goals are met efficiently.

* Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels and ensure availability of materials.

* Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with maintenance departments for equipment upkeep.

* Problem-Solving: Address production issues and implement solutions.


Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

* Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

* Relevant experience in manufacturing and ceramics.

* High school diploma or GED required; supervisory experience in ceramic production preferred.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Organizational Skills: Manage schedules, workflows, and resources.

* Safety Regulations: Understand and adhere to safety procedures.

* Quality Control: Understand quality control standards.

Education and Experience:

* High school diploma or GED, ceramic background is preferred but not required

* At least 3 years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment is desired

* 3-5 years in a ceramic production environment or understanding of clay production is desired

Special Requirements:

* Ability to work overtime on a regular basis

* Occasional weekend work

* Support yearly company special events

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Proficiency in computer applications including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and report generation.

* Ability to plan, allocate resources, manage production, and coordinate people and equipment.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

* Capability to work independently, solve problems, and manage tasks under deadlines.

* Ability to read and interpret paperwork and maintain accurate records.

Equipment Used

* Computer, printer, scanner, telephone, and photocopier.

Physical and Mental Requirements

* Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and perform repetitive hand motions.

* Ability to exert up to 15-20 pounds of force occasionally and handle objects frequently.

* Close mental and visual attention required for data analysis and interpretation.

Environmental Conditions

* Work in a production environment with clay in both wet slip cast and solid formats.

* Potential exposure to dust and varied temperatures, requiring protective gear.

* Ability to work in a controlled indoor environment with temperature and humidity variations.
