The successful applicants will hold a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology from an accredited psychology training program, have completed an APA-approved internship specializing in child clinical or pediatric psychology and be licensed or license-eligible in the state of New York. They should also be skilled in providing cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma informed care and have experience caring for patients with serious illness and/or in need of palliative care. Academic rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. We expect the successful candidate to participate in inpatient and outpatient clinical care both in person and via telehealth visits. The psychologist will provide evidence-based interventions, including individual and family therapy, to support coping, adjustment, and quality of life for patients and families, collaborate with primary psychologists, medical teams, social workers, and other professionals to address psychological suffering in serious illness with integration of coping, crisis intervention, anticipatory grief, and bereavement support, and educate and support healthcare staff regarding psychological issues related to pediatric palliative care. This person will also participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions, document clinical assessments, interventions, and progress notes in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements, engage in ongoing professional development activities to maintain expertise in pediatric palliative care and psychology, and participate in academic pursuits such as education, research, quality improvement, leadership, programmatic development, and advocacy.
