About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

Rivian is seeking an organized and strategic Product Communications team member to support our expanding product and technology portfolio, including the R1 lineup, the upcoming R2 launch and future products. The Product Communications Manager will be central to shaping Rivian's product narrative. This role involves supporting, developing, and executing strategic communications that bring our diverse product stories to life, covering everything from Autonomy and AI, to EV performance and design, to software and sustainability, and the full breadth of Rivian's product ecosystem.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in media relations, product storytelling, and cross-functional collaboration. Success in this fast-paced, highly innovative, and occasionally ambiguous environment requires a creative, flexible, and solutions-oriented mindset. The goal of this role is to support the growing product communications team in their efforts to drive compelling storytelling around Rivian's product ecosystem.

You should possess strong organizational and judgment skills with a passion for the automotive and tech industries, and adept program management skills for complex workflows. You will be able to establish programmatic approaches and demonstrate a keen awareness of the diverse media landscape.

You will report directly to the Director of Product & Technology Communications, and work closely with other comms team members across the organization to develop Rivian's product narrative and support storytelling efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Join a lean, disciplined, and creative product communications team to execute media strategies, ensuring our stories are told in the right places and consistently secure inspiring media coverage about Rivian, its business, its products (hardware and software), and its growth.
  • Support the external product communications team across a range of projects and initiatives.
  • Rivian is a brand with no shortage of stories to tell-- we are looking for someone whose finger is on the pulse of the news cycle and is willing to immerse themselves in the world of automotive, EVs and technology, and understand what makes a compelling pitch and can craft clear narratives that interpret our company effectively for the product and technology media.
  • Keep the communications team organized through insightful project management techniques.
  • Help the team collate media lists and manage media inquiries, as well as internal speaking requests.
  • Work independently and with a team to solve problems, create and implement processes, and provide input on next steps for supporting cross-functioning teams at Rivian.
  • Help determine the appropriate audiences, communication mediums and cascading of messaging.
  • Support the planning and execution of PR campaigns, events, product launches, initiatives and announcements.
  • Engage your storytelling skills to thread together the broader Rivian product narrative.
  • This is a significant role for someone who is ambitious with potential career growth in the future.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a general understanding of, and interest in, both the automotive and technology industries.
  • 5+ years of communications experience, ideally in product, technology, and/or automotive/EV communications.
  • Strong media relations and ability to build and foster new relationships internally and externally.
  • Experience at an automotive or technology company (either in-house or at agency).
  • Strong team-oriented and solutions-focused mindset, able to embrace flexible work across time zones and collaborate to get the work done.
  • The capacity to thrive in dynamic environments, while being flexible, collaborative and reliable.
  • Experience in project management and event execution, with the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills: you are known for crossing T's and dotting I's.
  • You've told stories through a variety of mediums: whether they're in-person events, virtual settings, or in writing.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, depending on the task at hand or various projects taking place.
  • Ability to consider the bigger picture and possess the willingness to get into the specifics when needed.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel, when needed, to support events and media opportunities.
  • You are a passionate team collaborator and love building cross-functional relationships.
