Job Description

The Supervisor - Athletic Trainer is responsible for general oversight and daily operational management of the sports medicine outreach program and its athletic trainers within Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties and PCC/PCA & Chipola College. This position works with department leadership to coordinate all coverage scheduling, ensure contracted coverage needs are provided with high quality of execution, and that administrative needs of the department are met. This position ensures guidelines and policies are in keeping with industry best practices, laws, and standards of care. This AT provides outreach athletic training services as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff assignments and distribution of coverage and duties to support high-level delivery of services while maintaining appropriate workload boundaries for the athletic trainers individually and as a collective group.
  • Effectively communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information to team members. Fosters service and growth in manner consistent with the patient care beliefs and shared management philosophy of the department.
  • Provide feedback on team members' performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provide coaching to staff, recommend in-service education programs, and ensure adherence to internal policies and standards. Work collaboratively with sports medicine leadership team and BHC clinical education to organize educational opportunities for all outreach staff to build ATC engagement and clinical growth pathways, quality, and confidence.
  • Participate in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Facilitate all aspects of onboarding for new team members.
  • Ensure medical supplies, equipment, and emergency preparedness equipment needs are met and managed. Ensure up-to-date emergency action plans are maintained for all sites and coordinate rehearsals/education with key stakeholders. Ensure athletic trainers maintain injury records of provided care for student-athletes and patients.
  • Assist with organizing annual student-athlete healthcare events including the pre-participation sports physicals exams event and coordinate concussion baseline testing for partner high schools.
  • Assist as liaison to team physicians for local high schools. Organizes and compiles Team Physician and Sport Fellow coverage schedules in conjunction with Sports Medicine Outreach Leadership and Fellowship Coordinators.
  • Work with Sports Medicine Manager, Marketing Manager, and AT Events Coordinator to organize and manage all aspects of Community Outreach Events and contracted marketing deliverables including coverage and all advertising/promotional opportunities within schools and communities as outlined in sports medicine agreements.
  • Organize and create educational content suitable for Outreach target groups (i.e. student-athletes, coaches, parents, administrators).
  • Maintain current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.


Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Other related field Required or
  • Master's Degree Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Other related field Required

Minimum Work Experience

  • 2 years Experience in Athletic Training field. Required and
  • Experience in event planning and management. Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Athletic Trainer Licensed State of Florida Upon Hire Required
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (AT_BOC) Upon Hire Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of operations of Sports Medicine Outreach Programs.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology in reference to Sports Medicine Outreach Program.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and guidelines.
  • Knowledge in care and prevention of athletic injuries.
  • Comfort in evaluation skills and setting up plan of care.
  • Problem solving and decision capabilities.
