This position will be based in Phoenix, AZ or Scottsdale, AZ and requires reular travel within your assigned territory. Occastional travel to company sites may be required as needed.

Are you a dynamic sales professional with a passion for the wine industry? Gallo Winery is seeking a motivated and strategic individual to join our team as a Business Development Manager - Retail. In this role, you will be responsible for executing the sales plan, maximizing revenue, and driving the growth of Gallo products within retail accounts through our distributor sales network. You will be the face of Gallo, fostering strong business relationships, implementing effective selling techniques, and assessing market data to make informed pricing recommendations.

This position involves a balanced focus on winery-facing and distributor/field-execution activities. You will develop and execute field pricing strategies, allocate time and resources to maximize sales opportunities, and adapt to changes in market dynamics. Collaboration with distributor management is essential to ensure the execution of annual sales plans, monitor market conditions, and hold sales managers accountable for achieving Gallo's objectives. Your role will also involve negotiating monthly objectives, overseeing the implementation of national promotions, and supporting the development of future talent pipelines.

As the Business Development Manager - Retail, you will engage in consumer-facing events, conduct product tastings, and provide sales training to distributor sales forces and account staff. Your responsibilities include analyzing market data, coordinating new product launches, managing business expenses, and leveraging technology to optimize performance. You will also act as a Gallo Ambassador, advocating for our brands, hosting events, and utilizing digital marketing programs.

What You Will Need:

• Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of Gallo winery sales, marketing, or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of Gallo Winery sales, marketing, or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
• Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver's license based on the position's location within 30 days of hire.
• Required to be 21 years of age or older.
• Required to obtain liquor license as required by state/locality.
• Required to travel by air and automobile up to 50% during the course of business
• Required to see, taste, and smell wine and perform wine tastings as part of job functions.
• Experience demonstrating strong leadership selling, time management, public speaking skills.
• Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What You Will Set You Apart:

• Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience to include a prior rotation as a Portfolio Consultant, Business Development Manager, Program Manager Sales-LDP, Business Intelligence Manager or Account Manager 2; OR Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of external alcohol sales experience to include retail experience.
• Direct managerial/supervisory experience with sales, retail, or on-premise employees (e.g. District Manager, Area Manager, State Manager, Field Marketing manager, etc.)

Compensation:

• Hiring salary range posted: $109,620 - $182,600 / year
• Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
